The Creative Music Workshop

Creativity and improvisation as a way to learn: CMW is active all year long, but is centred around an 8-day summer program for musicians and artists of all disciplines which takes place during the Halifax Jazz Festival in Nova Scotia. The CMW’s founder and long-time director Jerry Granelli died in July of 2021 at the age of 80. Now under the leadership of his son J. Anthony Granelli (Brooklyn-based bassist/composer/improviser and long-time CMW faculty), the program continues to bring together musicians from around the world through the teaching of the CMW’s very unique creative process.
